The West of England Landlord Manual second edition was launched at the Expo 2008 and can now be downloaded here. The manual is an essential guide to the business of the private rented sector.
This was the eighth annual Landlord Expo to be held by the West of England group of Local Authorities. The West of England Group is made up of four Local Authorities, namely: Bath & North
East Somerset Council, Bristol City Council, North Somerset Council and South Gloucestershire Council. The event is also run in association with the Bristol Association of Letting and Managing Agents (BALMA). The Landlord Expo 2008 is sponsored by Netrent.co.uk, the UKs number one lettings website.
Registering online using the ‘Registration’ button on the left-hand menu will enable you to print a fast-track registration ticket for the day. If you are a company planning to exhibit then you can book your stand from the control panel once registered.
The West of England Landlord Expo is the largest local authority run landlord event in the UK** and it’s aim is to improve the private rented sector by sharing information with landlords, prospective
landlords, letting agents and managers. There will be around 60 exhibitors at the Expo 2008, along with 18 seminars running throughout the day. There will be an estimated 600* visitors on the day.
The introduction of the Housing Act 2004 bought with it Tenancy Deposit Protection and HMO Licensing, which had a massive impact on private rented sector landlords. In addition to this, from October 2008 landlords will have to produce an Energy Performance Certificate for their let properties and in April 2008 the Local Housing Allowance will be introduced across the region, which will affect the way that Housing Benefits are paid to landlords. These issues will be covered at the Expo 2008 along with others, such as the new smoke-free legislation and more general advice and guidance on how
landlords can save money in the changing financial environment.
The Expo 2008 was held on Thursday 15th May 2008 at the Holiday Inn, Hambrook, just off Junction 1 of the M32 and from 1:00pm to 8:00pm. Complimentary refreshments will be available to delegates throughout the day. For a map of the venue and to get directions click here.
On the day there will be information on many subjects from planning your finances to the current requirements for fire alarms in rented accommodation. Building on our experiences of previous Expos, landlord forums and other landlord shows, the Expo 2008 is set to be the most successful yet. So whether you are the owner of a large property portfolio including licensable houses in multiple occupation (HMOs), a small buy to let landlord, or are thinking of investing in the private rented sector then the Landlord Expo 2008 is the landlord exhibition for you.
